They additionally are legally required to share a list of movers they use. This did not happen. They tried to scam me and luckily I didn't give them my belongings.

After looking more into the company after we booked we realized how scammy this company really is. The DOC # on this website is different than the one that was written on our contract. When we followed the DOC # that’s posted on this website I saw that this company once ran under a different legal name and had their license revoked. Although they do have a ‘new license’ I assume it will be revoked soon enough. After I called my representative Lucas, he was MIA, I spoke to leanne and she said she’d get back to me and never did. I ended up cancelling before they took anymore of my money. They have their brokers license but don’t have an actual moving license. They said they’d be the ones moving us, but they don’t have a license for it. Red flags. Definitely run as fast as you can. Will be reporting to the bbb and FMCSA

Strongly advise against using Modest Movers! First, and likely last, time hiring a mover. Moving PA to MN. Was given a quote over the phone, confirmed it 3 times before the move, overestimated the number of boxes, and provided measurements for the sofa/table/bed/dressers etc. Gave me a quote of $3200 for 420 cubic ft, and took 50% deposit. On the day of the move, a different company shows up, Packmaster Movers, 8 hours earlier than scheduled and with just a 15min heads up. Things were still unpacked! Turns out Modest Movers is just a broker and their estimate has no real bearing! The foreman on the morning of move does a walk through, and says new estimate is $9300 (See attached pic)! Says the space required was grossly miscalculated, will be closer to 1200 cubic ft. I ask how much if I just use 420 cubic ft as quoted, and he says it'll still be at least $5500! No way to meet the $3200 I was quoted! Modest Movers are completely fraudulent! They will not refund the $1500 deposit since I canceled the move within 72hrs of the move date (I cancelled day of since 3x the price and no way to meet their original quote!). Avoid this company at all costs, completely unreliable. My wife and I had to rent a UHaul same-day, load everything ourselves, and drive it 900 miles! Horrible customer service, will tell you anything to get you to make a deposit!

Modest Moving lines up actual van lines to pick your stuff up and get it delivered. This would not be a problem if they did not promise stuff the other companies do not deliver. They did not use moving blankets, they did not have their trucks pick our stuff up and take it to the storage unit we rented. They stored our stuff in a warehouse and sent a local mover to pick it up and deliver it. We had damage to items shipped, some items REMOVED FROM THE TRUCKS and handed over to local mover, items apparently lost, and ABSOLUTELY NO ONE AT MODEST MOVING WILL ANSWER OR RETURN YOUR CALLS AFTER THEY ARE PAID. They are going to force us to pursue litigation and claims against their license because they do not pick up their phone calls to resolve issues. What is sad is we are only contacting to claim resolution on relatively minor damages. When they tell you they have $10,000 insurance on your goods, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. They also have a clause that suggest that they do NOT insure your cargo.

They lied about the about the amount of space and the quote. I had a quote that should have included my entire house. However, we decided to sell about 40% of our large furniture, which was a large 7 piece sectional, a table with 6 chairs that was on the back porch, a queen size storage bed, and a bunk bed. You would have thought we would have plenty of room on the truck for the rest of the house and actually possibly get a refund. Wrong, they wanted to charge me 500 to just get my king mattress on truck.

Then when I get it delivered there were additional charges, they are only paid to go 50', not the "just point where you want them to take it" I was told. Also, everything was damaged. My rugs were placed jammed against the door and soaking wet. My $4-5k master bed was damaged on every piece. No response from the company on how to resolve.

Be ware or these "lowest cost" movers, they are just brokers from some local help. Thats why the pickup and delivery is paid in cash, as the company doesn't actually employ the people moving.

This team helped us move a 2-bedroom apartment from A to D. They worked thoughtfully and in a timely manner, taking care of all items and delivering them safely to their new destination. They were professional and friendly and wore masks the entire time, despite the heat and difficult work. The company was quick to respond to questions, like requesting a quote and confirming the move date. I would use Modest Moving again and recommend them to anyone looking for a safe and quality move.

They are horrible! We were told one thing over the phone and given a quote as well as 1 free stop before going to the storage unit. When they got to the house they said we were going to be over what we paid for and charged more. We finally came up with the money, which we were very upset about because when we set this up we were told we had plenty of wiggle room (meaning if we had a few extra boxes it was fine). Well it wasn’t fine. THEN as they were moving stuff I reminded them about the two stops and I was told they were taking it 4 hours away to a warehouse?! No one ever mentioned that. From there we had to be on the phone with the movers boss and we finally got them to do the direct delivery. By the time all this was settled they said it would be too late to do a direct delivery (it was a 2.5 hour away move) and they would be back at 6am. So we had to again get on the phone which took up more time. Then they changed it to 8am, then they called again and said it would be 9pm on the same day which is too late because I have a 7month old and a 5 year old who were both tired and cranky from the move. Well then they said if they did wait until the next day they would charge us $700 more! Uh, no this was YOUR mistake changing the times so much. Oh and then the truck broke down and they couldn’t even deliver at night so they HAD to do it the next day. Well they finally showed up even though they were 10 minutes away.. they showed up an hour and a half late. When they got here they said it would be a lawn charge to carry anything across a lawn if they didn’t park on the driveway side of the street. LAWN CHARGE?! I am 90% convinced they are making stuff up now. They were supposed to unload a few things, switch a bed out and then go to the unit. Well they look at the bed and now it’s going to be a charge to move the bed. So, we said screw it go to the storage unit and we will figure it out later. Basically if you blink in their direction it’s a new frikkin charge. ABSOLUTE WORST!! Now they took away our access to the contract because they know they are in the wrong.

Everything they promised came to fruition, especially when you take advantage of the WHITE GLOVE SERVICE! you will not lift a finger. If you by chance don't get Monika on the phone then request her and she make sure that this is the most efficient and effective move ever.

Contacted out for a moving company and ended up finding Modest. When I originally came in contact and asked for a quote on my move, I had Johnny West. When I spoke with Johnny, he was incredibly helpful in every single way possible. He took an inventory of my belongings as well as spent a decent amount of time working with me and figuring out everything that needed to be done. At first I had needed to talk to my husband about everything, Johnny advised me it was not a good idea but I had not had a choice at that time. I spoke to my husband and he said lets do it. When I called, I asked to speak to Johnny so we can reserve. Johnny was on the phone when I was calling in so they ended up redirecting me to another worker his name was James. I told him that I wanted to wait for Johnny but he assured me he could help me. After speaking to James for just 3 minutes I just bout felt the need to throw up. James became one of the utmost disrespectful and awful persons I have ever had an encounter with my whole entire Life. It seemed as though James was out to sabotage all of Johnny's work by telling me my list is all wrong and he didn't know what he was doing. He also advised me Johnny was no longer working there. Which the other guy just told me he was on the phone. Thankfully i denied the new estimate and held off. Remarkably I had been re contacted by Johnny later that day and went ahead and reserved with him. I gave four stars because Everything so far with MMS has been surprisingly extremely easy and comforting. But at the same time, I guess it's hard to actually rid of all bugs in a system. My move is right around the corner and Johnny has been so helpful and guiding! I Would recommend moving with this company however be careful of anyone that seems a little off. I guess this happens everywhere you go. Id recommends speaking to Johnny for your details he helped me with everything even storage and vehicle transport

We recently had to move to another state unexpectedly. A friend referred me to these guys and Jordan Shapiro helped me.He walked us through all the logistics and while moving isn’t cheap, compared to other quotes I got it was reasonably priced. Our entire home showed up in ohio, my furniture also was intact which I was so worried about because I have antiques and expensive furniture. So grateful for Jordan and his team. Would definitely recommend. Only complaint was the moving guy asked for like 5 bottles of water.

This experience has been beyond horrible. We were quoted $2200, but then charged over $4000. The guy I spoke with over the phone completely contradicted the guys doing my pickup. The pickup was late, and my delivery keeps being pushed back. I have not received my items, people are not getting back to me with correct details, the contact is completely unprofessional, and I had confirmed delivery with two different people before I even placed my order and had delivery men come. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Waited for 3 days, they never showed up to move our stuff. Before you pay, the seller would tell you a wonderful package that includes packing, loading, unloading and unpacking, and even offers you a discount. Everything was a lie. When the moving date is impending and we cannot cancel it anymore (per contract), they told us it does not include packing and unpacking. The moving date listed on the contract was also a joke. They used new excuses every day for the postponing of pickup, and we were stupid enough to wait them for 3 days. Because of the delay, we paid two times for flight change and they promised that they would reimburse us, also a joke. On the forth day, they still had the face to call and ask if someone came pick up our stuff. During the time they also asked if we want to cancel. Because if we say we want to cancel, it's on us and they will not need to refund us the 1st payment. Do not trust them for whatever they say or promise. It's basically a fraudulent company, selling a false estimate and doing nothing.

SCAM! Stay away from this company. We first spoke with Annaliese, who told us they were a small family owned company, that their movers come to us, disassemble our furniture, load onto the truck, drive straight to our destination, and unload. We planned our drive across the country on the phone with her and picked a move in date based on when she said the truck would be arriving. The day before the move, they called us to confirm inventory and our quote more than tripled. Our hands were tied as we had to be out of our apartment. The next day the movers show up, and the company name is different. The next day they call and said our delivery window is 30 business days from the agreed upon delivery date !!! I was never able to speak to Annaliese again (I was told she was on leave), and every single time I called, I got a different person (“small” family owned company?). They were extremely rude and unhelpful during the whole process. They are a broker, and they hired a company with 1 star across the board to move our stuff, which we would have never agreed to. It took 29 days to get our belongings. I’m not sure how these people sleep at night knowing that they lie repeatedly and scam people to make a living. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!

This company was a total scam. My brother's contract was with Modest Movers LLC who subcontracted to Pack Master Movers. The original quote was for $2000, but then was raised to $4300 saying there was an error in the original price quoted. Then when they came to load the truck and there was a "step charge" since there were steps from the street to the house. There was a delay in loading the truck and longer delay in getting it to Florida. Then they dropped the entire truckload of furniture (Moved from PA to FL), on the side of the road about a block from the apartment. They stated that they couldn't get the moving truck into the apartment complex. The manager of the complex stated that every other tenant has had moving trucks in there and that there was no reason they couldn't get into the complex. They refused to even talk with us, just unloaded the truck. My husband and I came with a trailer on our car to make multiple trips to help my brother move everything from the curbside to the apartment. Having been a military family and made many, many moves, I have NEVER dealt with anyone so unprofessional. They wouldn't even help load things onto the trailer. As I stated before, they wouldn't even talk with us, just dumped everything and left. Worst company ever. If I could give negative stars for the review I would.

My son and girlfriend hiredthem to move them from Omaha to Connecticut. they paid $1,100 down and then $1,100 was to be paid after the move. The company called the kids the day before the move telling them that they would not be able to be there the day that they told them they would but that they would be there the next day, and they did not show up! so these poor young kids were screwed out of $1,100 and we're two days late getting to their destination, College starting soon, very stressful situation ! I would highly not recommend this company!

I had the worst experience with modest movers. They quoted me thousands less than what I was charged by their "sister company" pack masters movers. I tried to file a claim but they would not let me (after I was promised when this was all over I could file a claim and get some of the money back). I refuted the deposit I pad to them of $900 with my bank and they just called me threatening me saying I would get arrested. Clearly, that is not how the law works.

The services promised to me did not happen. They told me I had to take it up with the other company. They have straight up lied to my face over the phone on so many occasions. The place they told me to place a claim through said they did not even work with them and that they were lying. This is an awful company. The woman who I booked the move with, Danielle, said she would be there for me every step of the way if I had any problems. The day the movers came, I could not get ahold of her and every call I have placed to her and message has been ignored.

I was asked what day I wanted my items delivered through the telephone consultation where services were coordinated. I gave them my move in date, expecting my items to be there around the date I chose. I was assured that this is the day my items would be at my new home. When my items were picked up, I heard nothing from anyone until I called to follow up. When I followed up, I was told that my items would be delivered within 15-21 days after my delivery date. That’s completely dishonest and I wish I would have just moved my things myself. Please, just hire the company yourself instead of these brokers, or contact the third-party they have assigned to you so you can find out their actual delivery eta. I wish I never heard of this company.

Worst moving experience of my life. They seem legit and seem like they care about making your move easier, when in reality, they simply are looking to get paid and then wash their hands of you.

We are a military family, and have moved 4 times now, doing it ourselves twice. This is absolutely the worst experience we've ever had and has cost us so much money, that we don't have, on top of the stress of moving. These people contacted us, had us believing they were the ones moving us at no point alluding to them being brokers, and proceeded to hire out the shadiest moving company they could find and refused to work with us through the process.

A few phone calls, when I pressed the issue when we started having problems, but nothing more than that.

That is not my major concern with these people, however. The "manager" outright lied to our lawyer on the phone (speaker, we were listening in), and was downright rude and refusing to hear what the problem was. They took our money and washed their hands of us while the moving company they set us up with tried to rob us blind and refused to finish the job they were hired for.

Not only that, but when the salesperson that spoke to me from this company was told to consider our home as a 5 bedroom house with furnishings and average amount of boxes associated with such, he somehow calculated that out to be 900 cubic feet.... How?!

How are they even still in business?!
